What I See (not a story, but poetry)

All the right words were on the page
The lights were dimmed--you'd set the stage

But you couldn't remember
What I needed you to say
That you would love me forever
But that time has passed away

You let the storm clouds
Fill up my sky
Left me wondering why
When I look at you
I no longer see
The man you used to be

I looked into your eyes--tried to search your soul
Wanted to find a love that was for me alone

But you couldn't remember

I cannot put my trust
In all your pretty lies
Try to cover your crimes
When I look at you
I'll tell you what I see
It's what will be the death of me
